FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Getting tattooed can come with a lot of questions — especially if it’s your first time or your first time working with me.
This page is here to help set expectations and make the process feel clear and easy. If you don’t see your question answered here, you’re always welcome to reach out.

General
First of all, you’re not alone — I work with first-time tattoo clients all the time.
From the moment you submit a request, I’ll guide you through the process step by step. We’ll talk through your idea, design, placement, size, and timing so nothing feels rushed or confusing. You don’t need to have everything figured out — that’s what I’m here for.
On the day of your appointment, you can expect a clean, welcoming studio environment and clear communication throughout your session. I’ll check in with you, explain what’s happening, and make sure you’re comfortable. Breaks are always okay, and you’re encouraged to speak up if you need anything. Including snacks which the studio provides.
Tattooing can feel uncomfortable at times, but it’s very manageable for most people — especially with good preparation, breathing, and breaks when needed. I’ll walk you through aftercare at the end of your appointment and make sure you leave knowing how to take care of your new tattoo as it heals.
My goal is for your first tattoo experience to feel supportive, empowering, and exciting — not intimidating.
Ever have any questions? Always feel free to ask.
I book up to 90 days out on a rolling basis. Actual appointment availability depends on the project and my current bookings.
My typical workdays are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 12–7pm.
Saturday appointments tend to book far in advance — often one to two months out — so I recommend planning ahead if a weekend spot is important to you.
Occasionally, I’m able to open additional appointment times outside of my usual hours upon request, depending on the project and availability.
I respond to all appointment requests within one week. I tattoo full-time and manage all bookings myself, so I appreciate your patience while I review each request thoughtfully.
That said, I totally understand that some tattoos are time-sensitive — or that you might just be excited to hear back. If your request feels urgent or you’re unsure about timing, you’re welcome to text the number that contacted you after submitting your request, or email me directly at kail@kailtattoos.com.()
I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
You’re always welcome to ask about pricing — it’s a completely valid and normal question.
I do my best to respect the budget you include in your booking request. If I notice that the tattoo you’re asking for may exceed that budget, I’ll always communicate with you to find a solution — whether that means adjusting the design, size, placement, or budget itself.
Sometimes pricing doesn’t need much discussion at all, but if you’d like clarity, just ask. Something as simple as “Did you happen to have a price estimate for my tattoo?” is perfect.
Maybe! The best way to find out is by submitting an appointment request.
I work primarily in fine line, ornamental, and American traditional tattooing, and I’m open to a wide range of subject matter. I also enjoy being challenged by ideas that push a bit outside my comfort zone. The only style I don’t offer is realism.
If you’re unsure whether your idea fits my work, you’re still encouraged to submit a request. I’m always happy to talk it through and see if we’re a good fit — and if not, I’ll let you know honestly and offer my best recommendation.
