APPOINTMENT PREP GUIDE

To help make your tattoo experience as smooth and comfortable as possible, here are a few things to keep in mind before your appointment.

Week of the Appointment

Moisturize the area if possible in the days leading up to your appointment. Avoid applying lotion the day of your session.

No sunburns, please. Avoid heavy sun exposure and tanning beds before your appointment.

Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24 hours prior — these can increase bleeding and impact healing.

Hydrate well. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin healthy and resilient.

Get a good night’s sleep. Rested bodies handle tattooing better.

Following pre-care instructions is important for both the tattoo process and healing. If pre-care is not followed and it impacts the tattoo, complimentary touch-ups may be waived.

Day of the Appointment

Please arrive on time and sober. I do have a 15-minute grace period.

Running behind? No worries — just communicate so I can confirm there is still enough time to accommodate the appointment. If you arrive after the grace period without communication, the no call/no show policy will be applied.

Eat a full meal before your appointment. This helps stabilize blood sugar and prevent dizziness or nausea.

Dress comfortably and wear clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed (ex: button-down worn backwards for a spine tattoo, shorts for leg tattoos, etc.). It’s best to wear something you don’t mind getting ink on.

Feel free to bring water, a snack, headphones, or something to pass the time — especially for longer sessions. I like to chat, but understand some people prefer to focus on other tasks. Just let me know if that is something you'd prefer.

The studio provides water and snacks!

Don’t forget your valid physical photo ID.
Accepted forms include driver’s license, passport, or state ID. Paper IDs and expired IDs are not accepted.

Planning Ahead

Planning a little ahead can make your tattoo experience and healing process much easier.

To protect your tattoo and support proper healing, please keep the following in mind:

  • No swimming or direct sun for 4 weeks after your tattoo (this includes pools, lakes, oceans, hot tubs, and baths)

  • Avoid working out for 4 days after your appointment

  • Try to wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattooed area while it heals

  • Plan your schedule so you can give your body time to rest and recover

Recommended Aftercare Supplies

If you’d like to prepare ahead of time, these are products I commonly recommend:

  • Soaps:

    • Dial Gold (original, unscented antibacterial)

    • Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby Soap

  • Lotions:

    • Lubriderm (unscented)

    • CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion

    • Eucerin (unscented)

These are suggestions, not requirements. I’ll go over aftercare in detail at your appointment and answer any questions then.

A Few Other Notes

Please notify me at least 48 hours in advance if you’re feeling unwell, on antibiotics, or need to reschedule. Lack of proper notice may result in loss of deposit.

If you’re nervous, have anxiety, or have specific access needs, feel free to reach out ahead of time. I want you to feel safe, seen, and comfortable in my space. <3

You’re welcome to bring one support person for your appointment — just let me know in advance.
